  • What does a Small Talk Class look like?

    Small Talk classes are a 60-minute language-based play group focusing on teaching caregivers communication strategies to carryover into everyday routines. Each class includes sensory play, strategy of the day, sign of the day, peer interaction, and sound of the day. The last 15 minutes of the class are dedicated to caregiver questions. There are 8 classes per semester.

  • What if I have to cancel?

    Classes can be canceled within 24+ hours notice. When canceling in advance you will receive a class credit to use within the current semester. Please note that a "no show" to class will not be refunded or given a class credit. Each semester will have a make-up class offered the last week of the semester. Class credits are non-transferrable to future semesters.

  • What precautions are you taking to reduce COVID exposure?

    All of our staff has been fully vaccinated and boosted. We offer outdoor classes to those who feel most comfortable in that setting. Each child receives an individualized toy bag that is only used by that particular child during that class. We also thoroughly sanitize all toys in between classes.

  • Does my child have to be diagnosed with a language delay to participate in Small Talk classes?

    No! Our classes will benefit all children learning to communicate.

  • What if I want to sign up multiple children?

    We offer a half-price rate for each additional sibling taking the same class. Both siblings participating must be between the ages of 6-36 months.

  • Who should sign up for the class?

    Small Talk classes are intended for children 6-36 months and their caregivers. Caregivers can enroll their child in our classes regardless of a communication concern.

  • Do I have to commit to a full semester?

    No! You can choose to sign up for the semester ($265) or attend drop-in classes ($35) as frequently as you would like.

  • When and where is the class offered?

    Classes are offered at indoor & outdoor locations in the greater Philadelphia area. See class schedule for dates and specific locations.

  • Who will be leading the class?

    A certified speech-language pathologist will lead each class. We will also be available at the conclusion of the session to answer any questions.

  • How will my child benefit from this class?

    Get an early head start exposing your child to language enriching activities developed by certified speech-language pathologists. Our classes focus on empowering caregivers by giving you proven strategies to increase your child’s communication skills and decrease frustration.

  • How do I prepare for class?

    Our curriculum includes sensory play which can sometimes get messy. Please dress your child for a mess or bring a change of clothes. Wear something you don’t mind getting wet/dirty and shoes which are easy to remove.
